For your information, it was I who developed the welcome wizard that uNav
borrowed from Podbird :). When I first implemented it, my intention was to
basically welcome the user and briefly show a list of the features that an
app provides. It was *never* meant to be a training wizard. That said, I
don't see why we should not have a welcome wizard for uNav. It is a good
presentation and eases the user into uNav.
However a user will not necessarily remember every little thing he
reads/saw in the welcome wizard. The feature definitely needs to be more
easier to use. Just how is the question we are battling now.
I am not fully sold on the idea of using the bottom edge since we use it in
the navigation mode. I feel it might confuse a user on what the bottom edge
does at different times of using the app.
Just curious, why dont we just show the "search" icon in the header
alongside the 4 header icons we already have? After you're right, the
search option is the most important way to search a route which is what
everyone uses uNav for. Making it available in the main header provides a
fast/quick access to it. Simple. No need for additonal menus or options.
Clicking the search button opens the search page we already have now.
Cheers,
Nekhelesh
