Re: n32 vs n64 - should we forego n32 and wait until the Debian n64 base system is made?

Just one point on this.

If you're targeting that market I an not inclined to do any unpaid
work for it, since they are making a lot of money I want a fair
share for my work.

On an aside regarding DBMS using >4GB. Some days ago I got hands on a
Mac Pro at a Saturn (a large electronics discounter) shop over here
and was able to persuade the guy selling things he didn't understand
to let me have a closer look at that wanna-have. On that machine I
found an advertisement from Oracle saying that they make use of the
64-bit address space to improve performance.

Do you really think e.g. Oracle users will trust a free OS? At least
over here in Germany the predominant attitude among IT managers is:

"If I choose Linux over (insert any commercial mainstream OS here) and
there is a major failure, I'll be fired.  Whenever ${overpriced_cruft}
puts our business down, it's not my fault and I can blame
${os_vendor}, job preserved."

That said, I'd really like to comment on technical aspects of our
project, since I'm a technician: Yet I still need more information to
contribute substantially.

@Michael: obviously you are _the_ person with launchpad experience
in this team. Can and should we make use of blueprints
          this early in the project?

Finally, kcleung could you please stop bottom quoting, IMHO everyone
on this list knows how to refer to previous postings, no need to send
the whole thread again and again eventually leading to multi-megabyte
mails. This time I'm leaving the automatically added (superfluous and
annoying imho) mailman signatures you're quoting on purpose.

Thanks for listening
  Siggy
