Re: When do you want the first segments in?

Resending -- forgot to reply to all when I sent this earlier ...

I think Samba would be a good topic.

Media players would also be good. Actually, at some point I'd like to
have an episode where we describe how to automatically download
podcasts and get them copied to an MP3 player.

This will probably be the lead news story when I start recording:

http://news.slashdot.org/news/08/11/21/1849215.shtml

I think I'll set up a Google document with topics and share it out to
you guys, to let you see what's in the pipeline. I'd like to keep a
rolling list of the next four major topics, so that we basically have
the next month planned at all times.

We can also put in a list (or have a second document) with our ideas
for smaller, 5-10 minute segments that we can do in addition to the
main topic. I'd like to fill that with ideas.

Many years ago, PC/Computing magazine had a section called Software
Secrets, where they published little (2-3 paragraph) tips on how to
use various software and hardware. I was doing PC support at the bank
where I worked. The employees asked me questions every day, and after
answering their questions I was able to turn most of them into a
Software Secret article.

We should approach this with the same mentality. If you have a
question -- whether you ask it, or someone asks you -- make notes
about the question and solution, then you or one of the others here
can record it and we have another show segment.

Thanks,

Charles
