Message #00092
Re: When do you want the first segments in?
Sorry about the double-post, I had replied from my BlackBerry, which
swore to me that it was unable to send the message. I tried four
times, and it told me that every attempt failed. Apparently it was
half-right, and only two attempts failed.
But anyway, like I said if you can send me something by Saturday, then
please send it on. Otherwise, record it and send it when you can.
Since I can't do anything next weekend due to holiday stuff
(Thanksgiving in the US), I wanted to get something out this weekend
to get the podcast rolling. Once you hear it, all of you can give me
feedback including what you want to do and where it would fit in. I
know that you have lives and may not be able to do something every
week, so it's perfectly reasonable to contribute segments when you get
the chance. You won't be expected to do it for every show, if that's
not practical for you.
We'll start bi-weekly, but then I want to get it to weekly by January
if not sooner.
Ultimately, I like the idea of two (or even three) hosts recording at
the same time, like Linux Action Show or Linux Outlaws. If the hosts
have chemistry, they can play off each other and make it much more
interesting. Plus, there's a lot I don't know about Linux, and it
would be useful to have someone else there who may know some things
that I don't (and vice versa).
I'm kinda going with Clem's suggestion of throwing ourselves into it.
I want to start getting episodes out there, then you can listen and
discuss how to make them better. When you actually hear an episode it
will be easier to figure out what works and what doesn't, and what we
can add or remove to make it better.
Another thing we can do that may add value for the audience: the web
site template I'm using at the moment is for both podcasts and blog
posts. If anyone is interested, I can set you up as authors and you
can write blog posts there. How-to's would be particularly good, along
with news snippets and even reviews of programs. They wouldn't have to
be long. Something like this would give the audience more reason to
keep coming back.
