Well it depends what crashed... it could be using Alsa, OSS, pulseAudio
or even your card directly. I usually don't recommend to reboot, but if
you don't mind, that's probably the best way to make sure everything's
up again. 

There are alternatives otherwise, Ekiga for instance.

I thought I had tried that, but the audio may already have crashed from
my first attempt.

Is there a way to restart audio without rebooting?
