I don't think that having a bunch of buttons taking up space on the side is
a bad thing.  Certainly we can tweak the size of them if we have more things
to add to the gui (such as the avatars) but what's the point in trying to
free up space for the hell of it?  It doesn't look bad the way it is now,
and I actually think it would look worse if there was a bunch of empty
space.  If you look at other point and click style adventure games they all
cram as much stuff in the gui as possible to fill up the screen space too.

Bottom line: Getting everything in the gui is important, but worrying about
clutter isn't, in my opinion.

My only thought is that the button area is so populated that it is starting
to get a bit confusing and the buttons are getting "lost in the mix". I
think we need to have some distinction between alternating between scenes
and the Notebook/Interview.

I'll add more later, but I want to get this out there so we can all use this
thread.
