Message #00016
Debian n32 ports - their progress and whether we can use them to port to Ubuntu n32
Hi qiliu and others,
There is a MSc student from Fudan University claiming to be porting
Debian to n32.
http://sandyleo26.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/gsoc-proposal-creating-a-new-mips-n32-abi-port-for-debian/
There are also projects which port Debian to n32:
http://wiki.debian.org/SummerOfCode2009/Debian_loongson2f_N32_port
http://groups.google.com/group/loongson-dev/msg/7f815c5cd1a01ab6?pli=1
Maybe should we find out how much progress has been made in the Debian n32 port?
If the Debian n32 port is already functional (though not necessary
official), Michael said that perhaps working directly on n32 maybe a
better way to use our resource and we should not waste time on o32.
If the Debian n32 port is not yet usable, but nearly there, then
should we give them a hand and get their n32 working, then immediately
use it as a base to bootstrap to Ubuntu n32? This would avoid
duplicating efforts.
What do you guys think?
