Some problems and proposals for this project
Hi all,
I have a question and a suggestion for this project.
First, the homepage of this project mentions that "This team aims at
porting Ubuntu repository to MIPS64 architecture". As far as I know,
Debian doesn't support MIPS64 architecture. Currently the mipsel port of
Debian supports only MIPS o32 ABI. The goal of our project is to support
the o32, n32 or n64 ABI? I think the first step is to support the o32
as the Debian does. The n32 or n64 will be considered in the next step
because of the huge workload. If we do as that, the description in the
homepage should be modified.
Second, I think we should make a plan on this project. At the first, I
should make a basic ubuntu environment with the Michael Casadevall's
method. And these machines could be accessed by all members in our
project. Next we could build the buildd system on these machines. Is
everybody ok with that plan? Any suggestions are welcome. Also I think
a detailed and long-term plan also should be made. Michael has rich
experience on ubuntu porting. Could you help us on that? Thank you very
much.
Best regards,
Qi
