[Bug 248053] [NEW] Debian-style wpa-roam configurations don't work with suspend-to-ram
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: acpi-support
I'm running Ubuntu server 8.04.1 on my laptop and controlling my iwl3945
wifi card via a "wpa-roam" configuration as documented in wpa_action(8).
interfaces(5) configurations that use wpa-roam do not shut down the
interface completely when stopped; instead they leave wpa_supplicant
running and only shut down the virtual interface for whatever network is
currently associated. wpa_supplicant can't cope with suspend-to-ram; it
needs to be killed before suspending and restarted on resume. acpi-
support seemingly expects this to be taken care of when it shuts down
the network interfaces. In this case, that assumption is violated. As
a result, my wifi card doesn't work after resuming.
I've worked around this by adding a new script to /etc/acpi/suspend.d
that runs right after 55-down-interfaces.sh and kills wpa_cli and then
wpa_supplicant, but this is rather hackish. There ought to be a better
way of dealing with this.
