- GIS : we can integrate this with the NZ specific GIS servers as
required. Gavin mentioned such an initiative some time ago - Is this in
a usable state now?
- Messaging/Alerting : System can send alerts via email and SMS from a
platform we have. If some agency is going to use this (alerting) service
then someone can setup a local SMS gateway if needed (we can help on
this if needed) in NZ and then integrate it with the SaaS platform
easily - we can cut down the SMS cost with local rates. But until we set
it up, we can use the existing infrastructure for that.

Agree on that.
The point of the whole solution is to minimize the entry level barrier
(finding infrastructure, setting-up LAMP, etc.) to Sahana: with the
additional advantages of SaaS, this also allows for better Sahana
instance management, backup and data management etc. thus allowing to
gracefully move the Sahana instance to their own infrastructure whenever
needed in the future (in-house) - the backing up and downloading
features make this possible. We can host the instance for up to six
months time, which I guess is a good starting period.
Regards!
