Following are the messages from server. Obviously, my user didn't have
permissions on that directory (because it was created when I was root).
But the preferred behavior would be to inform the client of the problem.
Server never dies!

I found a TODO comment at this place. So let me document this for future
reference, so you can work on it as per your priorities.
