This is a GUI bug. I was talking to Alan in the Chat widget and we were
having quite a long conversation. As our conversation grew longer, and
eventually extended below the bottom of the Chat widget's text box, a
scroll bar appeared on the right and allowed me to scroll down the
conversation manually. However, the frame didn't scroll to the bottom
automatically whenever he or I wrote a new message - I had to physically
click on the scroll bar and drag it myself, with every message.

Most instant messaging and similar programs scroll automatically to make
it easier for the user. I think it would be useful to implement a
similar automatic scrolling feature.
