Public bug reported:

When logging in to the server, sometimes it returns a bad credential
error. This might have to do with the buffering on either end of the
network code.

Also, LoginDialog doesn't "report" this. Seems like the call to the GUI
thread isn't getting through.

This happens randomly which means it might be a race issue.
