Next steps..
Hi guys..
I've been thinking about where to go next. My network stuff is about
75% done but has stalled a bit (mainly due to boredom but I'm nearly
ready for another burst of finishing). Sean's audio is probably about
the same stage (right Sean?). Carsten, I know you are busy at the
moment, so I thought perhaps I'd implement this milestone
(https://blueprints.launchpad.net/lucadestudios/+milestone/initial-integration)
using ODE or something as a placeholder.
In the meantime, I've been making improvements to kazmath and writing
a model library called kazmodel. Carsten has done some work on
kazmathxx - this is all stuff that we will need. I'm looking into
writing a kaztext library for 2D/3D font output using FreeType. Then I
think we've plugged all the gaps that OpenGL has which Direct3D
doesn't. Kazmodel is coming along well, I've implemented the main
infrastructure and have MD3 models loading (they don't quite render
correctly yet), I think once MD3 is going I could knock out MD2 and
OBJ loading in a few hours - then it's just .X and .MD5 and packaging
alongside kazmath in the PPA.
So, I think the next step for Lucade is to arrange a coding sprint, I
believe mine and Sean's girlfriends are planning a shopping trip some
when so we can do it then. Carsten, would you be up for that if we
arranged a day to be online and do some stuff? Goals for the sprint
would be:
1. Finishing lucade-network
2. Finishing lucade-audio (or sound... or whatever you wanna call it Sean)
3. Finishing and packaging kazmathxx.
4. Finishing and packaging kazmodel.
