Re: Episode 2 brainstorming

Hi guys,

Congrats on episode 1, it was fantastic.

If you talk about the IRC, please mention the following:

- xchat-gnome in Gnome and Konversation in KDE log you in the Mint
channel automatically
- if you want to keep your nickname, you need to register with Nickserv
(please explain how and why)
- general philosophy... Chill out, stay connected as much as you can,
don't stare at the screen waiting for an answer, rely on notifications
instead, most people hang out and stay connected to the channel and they
give it a look now and then. I think a lot of novice users don't
understand "how" to use IRC... We see a lot of people connecting, asking
a question, and disconnecting two minutes later.

About the podcast itself:

- If you can support ogg as well, it would be great.
- Try to get on the iTunes catalog but also make sure to contact
distrowatch (they have a podcast section on the main page)

Good luck,
Clem.

I think so. I'm pretty sure Audacity can export to Ogg. And it makes
sense that we would want to publish in an open format.

I haven't looked into getting us into iTunes, which is where I usually
go to look for podcasts. I suspect we have to put out an MP3 to get in
there.

Plus, I don't know how many portable players support Ogg. I doubt the
iPod does, though I haven't looked into it.

So whatever we do, I think we're going to have to post an MP3 file.
Supporting open formats is good, but we have to be mindful of
compatibility and to make sure that everyone can listen to the show.

We do have a good start on the feedback. I'm hoping that we'll get lots
of our future topic from the listener feedback. After all, we're doing
it for them.
