I'm not exactly sure what happened, but it does sound like an issue with
dkms. The dkms folks only build for the latest kernel, so especially in
cases where you install nvidia after you install the ck kernel, you won't
get the modules built. I'm not exactly sure what happened with you. But,
the recommendation that I gave earlier of re-configuring the kernel should
have fixed the issue also. Glad you got it working!

I will just follow the Ubuntu releases. This is the Ubuntu kernel with the
ck patches applied on top. I believe the 3.0.0-14 is based on 3.0.9. I
don't get the new versions myself, but that's just the way it is, AFAIK.
