Message #00318
Fwd: Update you requested
I'll consolidate this with the next update and send that to the Canonical
upstreams, but I thought the full text will be valuable to you.

Evan,
Where we stand? Rick has run the network connection that ties us into
the IS network (we were just patched in when we were on A-side) and is
now working on the Cisco configuration (has to update the IOS on the
newly arrived switch and assimilate the switch we brought from Magners.
We have a couple of more servers to rack but that will be slowed down
slightly be the need to move a few around to even the weight (not so
import) and the power draw. Pinky is in here helping us rack gear (he's
working on the desktops in the rackmount cases. We are going to have to
make one more trip to Lexington to pick up the 4 kernel team servers
that arrived last week (I wasn't going to worry about those yet but
Brian wants to get them in the DC since the will factor into the rack
space available and the power draw per rack.
My hope is to have networking run to everything tonight but that will
depend upon how far Rick progresses. I will stay late again to bring
systems up if we get the networking in place. We did have one issue with
power; one of the racks we occupied only had 30amp outlets available to
it and our CDUs are only capable of handling 20amp. Pinky had two 30amp
CDUs on hand and gave them to us for use. They are a different
make/model that what we have for everything else (APC instead of
ServerTech) but should still perform as needed. It might mean a small
change or two in the jenkins jobs for any test machine (kernel SRU
and/or smoke testing) psivaa and plars use that are connected to it. On
the other hand those machines may move to a different rack.
As for the travel extension, I have the flight rebooked (it was cheaper
for them to buy a new one-way ticket than to change the existing ticket
so they went that route). I also have the lodging piece taken care of
and will still be cutting out for a bit this evening to turn the rental
vehicle back in. We're going to cut out for a bit now and grab some
lunch but I will send another update later this afternoon/tonight.
