Re: On the status of LOUD...
New stuff:
If you would like me to merge you, please send me a formal request on
launchpad. It'll be easier to keep track of as I have been gone for a
week. Also, I see Pete's been added to LCSEE mirror keys -- I thought
we were going to limit access to that to ensure things made it into
test cleanly? May not be the case. Also, what are thoughts on making
a PPA for loud-platform that would have global access to the group
instead of the current way things work.
In response to Kro:
Absolutely -- the important thing to note is that we have the desktop
and any essentials needed to run the environment in a lab at WVU.
That's not the specific nature of this list, though, which is
correct. On the linked wiki -- you can see the current LOUD (only)
package listing and little projects and wants that I think would be
neat mini additions. More projects will ensue -- we should define
what we want and what we need soon... yeah.

Still looking for a more open way to maintain a list like that --
Ubuntu wiki seems okay though, all you've gotta do is sign up?
In response to Pete:
I've made no progress on this other than to source the usplash package
and make a new splash image, which I'm not all that pleased with.
Again, automount and ldap authentication I view as more lcsee
internal type projects. Lets focus on LOUD packages.
So what is loud and what isn't? Well, typically I use the mantra of
can we redistribute it and will it work outside of LCSEE. If the
answer to both those questions is yes then that package should be in
a freely redistributable loud repository.
With that said to me the loud-desktop package shouldn't have hooks
to ldap or automount. At least not in the sense like they are used
specifically within LCSEE.
I'm also curious about the source control provisioning going on.
From what I can tell it seems like everyone has separate bazaar
branches and are you are sorta randomly feeding changes to each other.
More than anything, lets get people talking. I want to hear what
people are doing. More input.

Posting from 4-H camp but here we go...
A list of current packages can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Abutcher
We've gotten to the point of preseeding the environment -- and I'm
pretty sure we have full ldap authentication and auto-mounting
working. So, we have a full loud-desktop ready to go.
Everything needs ported over to ljaunty-test once assured that it
works well enough to go out.
