Since Stackoverflow likes a question, answers and comments, I thought to start off with the original question, and so I created: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9694912/reading-and-writing-email- from-emacs-using-a-secure-server-gmail I then thought to add "answers" and "comments" to make this appear "kosher" to Stackoverflow, but I got told I couldn't answer my "own question" for 8 hours--because I am a newbie. So, for the next eight hours I'll be dormant.
