Message #00040
Back on track!
Hi
Like you may have seen, i managed to get back in and to do some fix
this week, I hope I will be able to keep this pace for next weeks and
months :). I think I will now concentrate into adding one or two
features for the next release, I think about simple things like
multiple and animated layers for the game, and adding a picture to
show when a player is hit.
In other things, i think we should really get on our feet on what to
do with artwork and gameplay, characters and levels are very
different, and nothing like a fair game is currently possible, we have
to decide what we need,
what we have to change on what we have, and what we need to get ride
of (seriously).
I read about half life development process earlier
(http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3408/), and think in some way
we have the same problem, the game is just _not_ fun. We need to start
a creative
process to decide what content we really want in this game.
Unfortunately, I don't think we can have the same cabal process as
them, fortunately, what we are building is far less complex and don't
need the same level of
integration. So, using either this ML or a forum (we have one here,
but which lake some life:
http://forum.freegamedev.net/viewforum.php?f=33&sid=65c885d3c9c0ab175f8a43cb2903c545)
I think we could manage to discuss efficiently enough about design of
levels and character, enough to create a 2-3 page specification for
each ones, describing its background story, its abilities, its style
and and animations
for characters, and traps, entry points, and all those things for levels.
Although there is some work on code still, I think now we really have
to focus on the rest of the development, and if anything is a problem
for designer or animators, to fix that first.
Inputs welcomed :)
