Well, after spending about an hour trying to figure out how changed a couple of instanciations of new_config could have possibly broken usf, it turns out that it wasn't those changes at all. It turns out that the new dialog system was the culpret. Until xapantu has had a change to look it over, I've commented out all related code, which seems to have gotten usf up and running again.

BTW: new_config is now implemented as a singleton, which should improve performance a bit.
