For one, we are running a competition on Dec. 1st for X11-licensed microgames. I'm trying to get newer developers to think about the production aspect of making games (managing time, keeping content and features to a minimum, actually finishing) and that's what those games are about. I've got three for-sure entries, and we'll have to see how many other people make one. Website: http://www.mirthkit.com/?p=92
Second, I have a personal project, a new puzzle game idea (http://forum.mirthkit.com/viewtopic.php?id=22). That'll be X11-licensed too. I don't know when that will be done, but perhaps it will be in December if I actually get some time to spend on it. ;)
Also, a good friend of mine is in about the same boat as I am for his own puzzle game. He's working on one of those microgames and some library type stuff in his spare time, but he does have a fairly developed puzzle game that he wants to finish up also.
Lastly, we are going to be presenting in front of some game development college students (fullsail.com). They're a fast paced bunch, so I've been considering running a competition for slightly-larger-scope games set for the end of the year. If that ends up going through, thats another few games.
Other than that, we're fresh out of bigger games after Fight Back (http://www.mirthkit.com/?p=113). Perhaps that counts as a holiday release? The game itself isn't "amazing" per-se, but its a solidly fun game. The bigger thing Fight Back does is prototype the whole commercially-released-source idea. That was the whole point of MirthKit to begin with -- it will be interesting to watch as that idea sinks in to more people's heads.
Anyway, I'll be listening in, and I'll be around to help. -- In terms of OSS/Linux outreach, if there is a website or some kind of quick info that would be cool to have passed along to those students, toss me some ideas. :)

I still think it would behoove of us to talk about game release schedule for the holiday. If we work it right, we can grab some new gamer/users if we play the cards right. Who has thoughts on this? One such post on the forums is this guy right here -- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6194295 Are there any seriously considerable released on the retail or on the gpl side that can "match" the commercial releases coming out? I know, its a sad question to ask, but I feel duty bound to at least get an opinion (I have a showcase idea for the UGA that Im going to try to implement on or close to the 1st of december). _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~uga Post to : uga@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~uga More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp_______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~uga Post to : uga@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~uga More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
