Re: Are we still active?

 

As would I!  I love the operating system and the open source model, I think
it may be the single best thing produced by mankind!  This would be going
along  with Linus Torvald's latest theme of getting Linux shipped out on
computers as the stock OS: We need to figure out a way to convince local PC
stores to at least make a Ubuntu PC a publicly available OS option for the
machines.  Since such a machine would use a free open source OS, the price
point should be significantly lower, for the same machine.  This would
provide great consumer incentive.  Also if it's reasonable in the
situation, perhaps some volunteer work to assist in setting up the Ubuntu
machines for the store, and making a good looking Ubuntu shelf, perhaps
with a screen demoing the OS and why it's better than Windows.  I feel like
it is essential to do everything in our power to make this an extremely
attractive option for both the vendor and the consumer.
