??? From memory: the GNU toolchain was designed to be able to
crosscompile for any target archictecture whatever build architecture
you're on.  For now I can't tell in how far this promise is met.  From
old discussions I remember that Debian rather deliberately chose to
not take full advantage of that design, sorry to say I can't recall
the arguments of the persons in charge back when this decision was
made.

And what do you expect us to contribute?  What direction will a project
that's still to be defined be targeted at?

Sorry to be such a pita, I don't doubt you are very busy with your job
and can only devote a small part of your time to this team.  You gave
me a timeline in private mail, that - as I told you - I'd like to see
published in our team platform aka launchpad and I'm looking forward
to see the status.
