Accessible indoor navigation
Hola TV, Charles, Steve,
We have secured some help through the Google Summer of Code program
to work on the tagin! indoor positioning engine over the summer, and I
would like to gather your thoughts on how to go about providing indoor
navigation services for blind users on Android. (I am cc'ing Shawn and
Monty from the Loadstone GPS project here since they may want to offer
their own suggestions or comments).
Specifically, I would like to know which one of your Android
open-source products do you think are best suited to provide indoor
navigation functionality? It seems to me that Walky-Talky would be the
most appropriate but I would like to hear your thoughts.
More generally, I would also like to invite you all to provide
guidance and feedback as we go on with the work. We definitely want to
create something that is not only useful to blind people but also has a
very good chance of being included in your products, so your early
advice and continued support will be essential. Looking forward to
hearing your thoughts.
cheers!
