If you come up with a good solution for this it could save lot of 
infrastructure, time and money.

Usually LDAP <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ldap> doesn't provide the 
minimum needed functionality, as when average users 
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/One%20Hundred%20Papercuts/Average%20users> come 
home they don't have their sessions in place and their applications are 
very different.
