[Update] Project Listings and Notices
*NOTE: *SpeechControl has a meeting February 19, 2011. Mark your calendars.
*NOTE:* Recently we've received an influx of new members to
SpeechControl, and a majority of those people are students. Please help
and assist one another wherever possible. If you're a student looking
for help or want to get involved deeply into SpeechControl, please reply
to this mailing list with your ideas, questions and areas of needs and
expertise.
It's been a while; and I've been a bit busy with school and the
college process. Sorry. Mind you, if you don't feel that you'd have
the capabilities to commit a certain task, or need /any/ kind of
help, please feel free to just ask! Replying to this mailing list or
sending a PM over IRC are two of the many ways you can reach me.
projects
* *cmusphinx-train:* I've spoken with Kan MacLean, one of the people
behind VoxForge <http://www.voxforge.org/>, in regards of having a
local end client to upload training information to the VoxForge
site. I figured that if it's easier to train a voice, then it'd be
more welcoming of a task and more profitable for everyone in the
long-run. One thing about this project, I feel that it's better if
we have a PyGTK front-end for this application; it's more flexible
and a bit more native to Ubuntu. More information about this
project can be found on its Launchpad project page
<https://www.launchpad.net/cmusphinx-train> and on the developer's
wiki
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SpeechControl/Development/cmusphinx-train>.
* *python-openmary:* This project's nothing new, but it *does* need
assistance! The rule set for python-openmary should follow the
blueprint of libopenmary
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SpeechControl/Development/libopenmary>.
For more information, please visit its project page
<https://launchpad.net/python-openmary>.
* *chromereader:* This is an snazzy little idea. This'll require a
JavaScript (very similar to Python, with C syntax, is a typeless
language) understanding and an encapsulated library working for
openMary (for the time-being, because I'm not sure if you can
access speech-dispatcher from the Web). Check out the wiki
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SpeechControl/Development/chromereader>
for a bit more information about this. Daniel Bugl (Daniel0108)
has a bunch more information about this, so talk to him.
* *panlingua*: Okay, before releasing this project; I wanted to get
a bit of a solid foundation of the code's needed infrastructure
down. It has a bit of code borrowed from the Wintermute project
that's been edited for its use. More about Panlingua and
SpeechControl can be found on its wiki
<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SpeechControl/Development/Panlingua#Development>.
*If you're interested in testing or perhaps debugging* applications
we've worked on so far, please drop into the developers' channel and
just ask. I or Daniel0108 will do our best to bring workable, unstable
:) code to you.
