Re: VPCY21S1E and graphics

Hi, I have Ubuntu 10.04 and installed the new kernel as suggested by this guy:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/19027/ubuntu-on-the-sony-vaio-vpcy-21s1e

KMS works like a charm - the resolution 1366x768.

Hi,

I've just tried Natty on the VPCY21S1E and found that with various kernels, the KMS graphics for the Intel chip doesn't work.
These are the kernels I tried:
vmlinuz-2.6.35-24-generic
vmlinuz-2.6.37-12-generic
vmlinuz-2.6.38-997-generic

I have everything working on an Arch Linux partition. The kernel is the drm-intel-next kernel branch from here:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/ickle/drm-intel.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/drm-intel-next

The version of that kernel (from about 9th Dec) works with KMS and native resolution etc.

I'm not sure why the kernel that comes with natty doesn't work (it's more recent so should have the changes from this branch merged in).

Also, the wireless card is disabled in Ubuntu (it's fine in Arch).
It is:
02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

Does anyone know a way to fix that?

Thanks,
Will
