Hi guys,

just came back from PyCon. PyPI mirrors were one of the topics at PyCon.
I talked a lot of Martin Loewis (PyPI maintainer) and Tarek Ziade
(author of PEP 381).

Our current PyPI mirroring setup will be obsoleted at some point by the
official PyPI mirroring infrastructure as defined in PEP 381. Parts
of the mirroring code is likely based on z3c.pypimirror.

There will remain a niche for the current z3c.pypimirror software: for
internal mirrors and for mirrors that have to deal with externally
hosted packages (PEP 381 only deal with packages hosted directly
on PyPI).
