Hmm, after the fenics installation there doesn't appear to be a file
called 'dolfin.pc' on my machine (see below, which is the output after
"sudo scons install" is issued in the dolfin-pum folder).

Any ideas?

Package dolfin was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `dolfin.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'dolfin' found
