That's nice, but I think we need your coding skills elsewhere ;) Would 
you be interested in bringing pogo to Ubuntu's new SoundMenu? It has 
gained quite a bit of attention lately and is one of the most requested 
features in the audio player world. If you want to help out have a look 
at the specification [1] and the implementation for exaile (also written 
in python) [2]. The SoundMenu needs MPRIS support IIRC. You may want to 
have a look at the pogo files src/remote.py and src/modules/DBus.py 
where this is implemented for pogo. We may want to combine remote.py and 
pogo.py if it helps along the way. I am not sure, but I think we should 
try to implement this as an addon like the desktop notifications, covers 
and equalizer. What do you think? This is an ambitious task, but I think 
you can do it.
