Re: jungar193@xxxxxxxxxxx sent you a link to content of interest
I keep Windows on a box for the following reasons:
- Testing: To make sure Mint doesn't erase the Windows boot entry while
installing Grub
- Game: To play Civilization IV and Europa Universalis Rome now and then
(but I've got a Wii and Urban Terror under Linux, so I rarely play them
in the end)
- Silly stuff: When my daughter or wife insists on running some crappy
stuff (House 3D, or Dora game.. usually gotten for free from the
newspaper) and it doesn't play fine in Wine.
I can't remember the last time I booted Windows, it was definitely more
than two months ago.
I also used to boot it to use hardware that is not recognized under
Linux, namely an ASUS pocketPC and a Lexmark printer. But in the end I
got rid of the pocketPC and I replaced the printer with an HP one.
I know from experience that dual-booting is an essential part of the
migration towards Linux, but for people who use Linux as their main OS,
Windows can also be completely out of the picture.
Clem.

This is pretty cool. I will mention it in the show. Thanks for sending
the link.
I kinda like the phrase, "life without Microsoft." A lot of people think
that is impossible. To be honest, I haven't completely gotten rid of MS
myself yet.
But things like this allow us to take another step in that direction.
Thanks!
