Re: Hey all, here's an idea

That's a great idea. I definitely think that this type of thing should
be in there. But I didn't mean how to do Win2Lin things, I meant address
new MS plans/schemes/announcements/whatever. You know, like "Blah blah
blah is in Windows 7" or "Linux is an intellectual virus..." or even new
accomplishments.
Yes, I definitely want something like this. Especially when Microsoft is
screwing over their users, like in this article of mine
(http://charlesolsen.typepad.com/charles_olsens_writings/2008/10/whose-pc-is-it.html)
where I talked about how Microsoft ignored users' settings for Windows
update, and updated PCs even when users had auto-update turned off.
And whatever Steve Ballmer is up to is usually entertaining.
But it wouldn't be just MS bashing. If they do get something right, we
can mention that too. I don't want to get a reputation for arbitrarily
hating Microsoft. If we get to that point, then everything we say is
suspect.
That, incidentally, is how they see me at the office. I spend most of
the day fighting with MS Word 2003, a program that keeps finding new
ways to screw me over. I spend a lot of the day cussing at Word.
One day recently I was talking to someone, and I said "Microsoft OneNote
is a good program." The woman in the cubicle next to me almost fell out
of her chair. She was astonished that I had said something positive
about Microsoft, or at least a Microsoft program.
