Re: Show segments

Hi Charles,

I think the three news sections could be merged into one "The news", so
the speakers wouldn't be encouraged to just note a series of news as
done in the newsletter, but to actually comment on them and take the
time to discuss the news items.

Win2Lin could be called "Tip of the week" and cover not only Windows
migrations but any kind of questions.

"Website of the week" should be removed as it both tips about websites
or software could fit in the main story or in tip of the week.

So we'd have:

INTRO
The News (with optional brief discussion about the news items)
Main story (interview, or discussion about some major news item, or
"what do you think about" kind of discussion..anything that could be the
main topic really)
Tip of the week (explain how to achieve something, or talk about a
website or some useful tool/software)
Listener feedback
Conclusion (closing, contact us..)

Clem.

Subject: [Linuxmint-podcast-project] Show segments

I've been making some notes about the show, and I wanted to toss them
around and see what you guys think.

Here are my ideas for segments that could be included in the show. Each
episode would not necessarily have all of the segments listed below, and
of course we can add new ones as we think of them.

Let me know what you think.

INTRO

Some opening music, host says something like "Welcome to the Linux Mint
Podcast. This podcast features news and help for Linux Mint users, as
well as all Linux users. We'll help you if you're just getting started
with Linux Mint, or looking for ways to get more out of Mint."

Host and co-hosts introduce themselves.

Host mentions major topics for this episode.

MINT NEWS

Latest news about Linux Mint.

LINUX NEWS

Other Linux news: noteworthy releases of distros, Linux adoption,
release of new apps, etc.

OTHER TECHNOLOGY NEWS

Microsoft news/antics
Maybe even other devices: cell phones, ebook readers, etc.

STORY OF THE WEEK

The main topic of this episode. Could be reviews and how-to's of Linux
software, or hardware that is using Linux.

WIN2LIN

Like me, I think a lot of listeners who are new to Linux will have
questions in this format: "In Windows I did yada yada, how do I do that
in Mint?"

WEB SITE OF THE WEEK

Mention a useful (or fun) web site and talk about what's available
there.

LISTENER FEEDBACK

Emails received and our responses. Also, do we want to encourage
listeners to record their feedback in audio files and send that in for
us to play in the podcast? I've heard it done in other podcasts and
actually I don't like the idea, but you guys might want to try it.

HOW TO CONTACT US
Email address for the show, email addresses for the hosts, where to find

the Contact Us form on the podcast web site. Mention the forums on the
podcast web site. (We will have forums, right?)

CLOSING

Repeat host names and mention their web sites/blogs, encourage listeners

to email the show and participate in the forums, mention the major
topics for next week.
