I believe it was in the 2011.08 release announcement.

Feedback on the UI from those who have tried that has been largely
positive. Some Linaro developers aren't satisfied with the amount of
flexibility offered, but it's not targeted at those who understand all
the intracacies of our processes.

We're obviously keen for more people to try it and provide feedback
though.

Is there somewhere else that we should be announcing it?

That's largely up to the dev platform team now. I don't know if we'll
offer v2 hwpacks instead of v1 for download this month's release at this
point, but we should certainly be well along the road to being able to.

There are no changes from the end users point of view I don't
think. There will be fewer occaisions where linaro-media-create fails,
but that shouldn't matter for releases, as those have been tested :-)

It's largely an improvement internally. It makes the system more robust,
reduces duplication, and also makes it easier for LTs and others to
enable new hardware, or make changes around existing hardware, as they
now directly control most of that information, rather than having to
make changes to linaro-media-create.

Unfortunately there will be a transitional period where they have to
keep both up to date, until we want to drop support for installing v1
hwpacks.

Thanks,

James
