A fix for this has been pushed to php53u version 5.3.6-1 which is
currently in IUS Stable:

  Missing sqlite extension for php53u

Bug description:
  The php53u package seems to be missing the sqlite extension. According
  to the PHP documentation, this extension is enabled by default since
  PHP 5, so this may break many applications.
