Ok, I fixed this in git master. It should get imported into launchpad
and built in the PPA within 24 hours.

  Character set (UTF-8) issues when geotagging

Bug description:
  I geotagged several photos manually clicking on the map. The
  application correctly stores city, province/state, and country names
  in IPTC data automatically, but non ASCII characters are not handled
  correctly.

  In the below exiftool output City should be "San Martín de los Andes"
  and Province-State should be "Neuquén".
