This mysqli vs mysql issue seems to be coming more often. I'm going to suggest we bump this up the priority list a bit.

It seems I hadn't tested that one as login path before. After login comes only the text "Exponent CMS", the previously mentioned warnings (many times to same warning about core.php line 394) and a fatal error like this:

..so no go again...
