Re: Laptop running hot since upgrade
Hi all,
I would highly recommend following this tutorial to undervolt your Adamo. Or
any other laptop, for that matter.
http://openmindedbrain.info/09/05/2010/undervolting-in-ubuntu-10-04-lucid-lts/
I've found undervolting to be an important step in the proper functioning of any
laptop. My Macbook Air, for example, was almost unusable before undervolting
it. Any kind of video would eventually overheat the processors.
The stock voltages applied to the various steps of the Adamo's CPUs are way too
high. Resulting in heat and excessive battery drain. While undervolting my
Adamo, I found that the test script ran all the way down to zero without
stopping on the first pass. I thought that to be too low, so I arbitrarily
chose the following settings for my Adamo (12 8 4 0). The numbers correspond to
voltages and will make sense as you follow the tutorial. Each CPU is different,
so your mileage may vary.
Seriously, it may seem like a pain, but it's very easy to do. You'll wonder why
you didn't do it sooner.
