error in example (1) (since corrected) : The command line was 
usb-creator-kde  /home/dakra# -i/dev/shm/lubuntu-25.10-desktop-amd64.iso 

Also: The same problem and circumvention applied when using the program
completely interactively.

To select the input file, I clicked OTHER...,
navigated to /dev/shm ,
Selected the file,
Clicked OPEN.
On return to the main window, the selected file does not show on the upper window, and the MAKE STARTUP DISK button is grayed out.
