  pkexec no longer works in GUI - Ubuntu Unity 25.10

Bug description:
  On Ubuntu Unity 25.10, pkexec no longer works when invoked from the GUI, e.g., click on the Synaptic icon in the launcher or Alt+F2 and enter pkexc nemo.
  Both these commands work when entered in a terminal
