[Bug 2091205] Re: Screen garbled after screen returns from suspend
For some reason one of my memory sticks disappeared when booting the
computer, or while running. As long as I had only one memory stick in
use I didn't have this problem with a garbled screen after returning
from powersave.
As soon as I did a cold reboot and checked that both memory sticks
showed up in the system I had the issue back.
Since the graphics uses RAM as graphics memory, I think this is related
somehow.

Title:
Screen garbled after screen returns from suspend
Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
When power management turns off the screen, and I wake it I get a
garbled screen. There's a divider in the middle and green streaks from
the right margin and the middle divider over the garbled background
image. I added a picture of the garbled display as an attachment.
I am able to login blindly, and removing and inserting the HDMI
connector from the computer restores the image. I also have a
shellscript that I can activate with a keyboard shortcut that uses
xrandr to turn the output off, wait two seconds and turn it on again
and that also restores the image.
AMD 7840U with built in Radeon 780.
I have tried increasing VRAM memory to 2 GB.
I tried adding "amdgpu.sg_display=0" to the boot parameters to no
avail.
What can I do to help debug this problem?
I have the same CPU/GPU combo in my T14s laptop, but haven't got the
problem there.
