Please confirm if that's reproducible and that it's booting with a
working Nvidia driver. Otherwise it sounds like the problem might be an
incomplete Nvidia driver upgrade.

To confirm what the issue really is, please collect a full system log:

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

and attach the resulting text file here.

Title:
  Login screen won't show

Bug description:
  I guess an nvidia driver or something updated and now my login screen
  won't show. I get a warning from the monitor about the resolution or
  something. I have an ROG Strix XG49V widescreen monitor, and an nvidia
  3080 lhr gpu. I'm not entirely sure its an xorg problem.

  I can still alt-f<x> to get to a cli, which is how I filed the report
  in the first place.

  At the end of the report, I got an error saying Missing X server or
  display. ui/aura/env.cc:257. The platform failed to initialize.
  Exiting. So this is done via the url from another computer.

  I noticed if I try to apt upgrade there are some possible nvidia
  update packages but are currently held back to due phasing, so maybe
  there is a fix on the way?
