[Bug 2127722] Re: ‘Open Folder’ (Ctrl+E) does nothing in Transmission when installed from deb. Snap versions (stable and beta) are not affected..
Hallo Sebastien,
there seems to be some confusion — I wasn’t referring to the file
selector. Ctrl+O works as intended.
Ctrl + E is in the context of opening the Downloads folder where the
torrent content (e.g. a movie) is stored, so I can open it directly
without manually starting and navigating through Nautilus. This is
equivalent to: right click -> “Open Folder”
One thing that might be relevant:
My ~/Downloads is a symlink to /tmp/Downloads, which is mounted in
tmpfs.
I’ve never had problems with this setup before, except when testing
snaps.
The stable snap has issues with symbolic links, but the same deb version
and the beta snap don’t. I’m mentioning this just for completeness.
I started Transmission from the command line and got the following output.
However, this output appears unrelated — pressing Ctrl + E or using right-click -> “Open Folder” does nothing, and nothing is printed in the terminal when the action is triggered.

Title:
‘Open Folder’ (Ctrl+E) does nothing in Transmission when installed
from deb. Snap versions (stable and beta) are not affected..
Status in transmission package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
When using Transmission installed from the default Ubuntu deb package
on 25.10, selecting “Open Folder” (Ctrl+E or context menu) does
nothing. No file manager window opens.
Expected: file manager should open the torrent’s download directory.
This bug affects the transmission-gtk binary package, but I could not select it. Launchpad reports:
“'transmission-gtk' does not exist in Ubuntu. Please choose a different package.”
Bug concerns only the GTK frontend. transmission-qt has unrelated
issues that are out of scope here.
