I have been debugging with
qemu-riscv64 version 10.1.0 (Debian 1:10.1.0+ds-5ubuntu1)
in an S390X vm

The error occurs within the riscv64 glibc code.

Binary file /lib/ld-linux-riscv64-lp64d.so.1 of package glibc6.
Source file elf/dl-version.c, line 94.
Function match_symbol(),

The sequence in memory for vd_version is \x01 \x00.
Gdb correctly displays this as vd_version = 1.


With qemu-user 9.2.1+ds-1ubuntu5.2_s390x the same problem occurs. So this isn't a regression in QEMU.

Bug description:
  QEMU's DEP-8 test fails on s390x, due to warning output on stderr
  about "unsupported version 256 of Verdef record", which is blocking
  migration of glibc 2.42-0ubuntu3.
