That does sound like a reasonable explanation -- if it takes too long to
draw the content, the view could possibly go blank. Are you on Windows,
and if so, which one?

Bug description:
When I click on the visualisation window it sometimes goes blank - beige blank. 

This is quite a random effect - sometimes when I am panning or zooming, sometimes when I move out of the window and select a document.
